Guidance: What is remote pool supervision?
Dec 31, 2021Remote supervision is provided without a person on the poolside, typically from reception, a monitoring station, or an office, via CCTV or similar means.
The team are alerted to possible danger by an alarm system activated by a pool user, a drowning detection system, or a person observing the CCTV monitor. Emergency responders are trained persons who then respond and attend poolside to assist.
When can a pool be remotely supervised?
In a separate article, we have summarized when constant poolside supervision is necessary as opposed to remote supervision.
Common industry examples include:
- Small, shallow hotel pools.
- Jacuzzis and hot tubs.
- Residential pools are being used for domestic purposes.
- Member-only clubs are appropriately managed.
- Non-swimming areas are appropriately managed.
