Guidance: Pool Undercrofts
Jun 06, 2023Some pools have undercrofts underneath the pool tank, which staff can access via a ladder, typically in the plant room. Undercrofts are an excellent example of a confined space. These spaces pose additional hazards to workers.
Entry to a confined space should be carefully controlled under a safe system of work compliant with the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997. Confined spaces in the pool environment may include the plant room, waterslides, and access spaces underneath the pool. There is little need for additional sector guidance as the general confined space requirements are sufficiently detailed. HSE guidance should be considered the authority.
